Vote for your Try of the Tournament

Four weekends of action-packed Autumn Nations Cup drama produced a feast of spectacular tries as eight teams battled it out for the title in the inaugural tournament.

England were ultimately crowned champions following an enthralling finale with France at Twickenham, staging a late comeback before winning 22-19 in sudden death.

But with the dust settled on a Finals Weekend that more than lived up to the hype, it’s time for you to have your say on which score deserved to be named Try of the Tournament.

We have whittled down the contenders to just four tries, Matteo Minozzi’s superb score against Scotland, Jonny May’s magical finish against Ireland, Giorgi Kveseladze’s scything Round 3 move and Mesulame Kunavula’s effort against Georgia.

Only one score can take the honour and you can make your selection at the bottom of this page but first, here’s a reminder of what the four tries in contention looked like.

Matteo Minozzi – ITALY v Scotland

Italy full-back Matteo Minozzi took the Try of the Round prize following the opening weekend after finishing off a wonderfully worked move by the Azzurri backs against Scotland.

Marco Zanon made a powerful initial break in Florence, bouncing off one tackle, handing off another defender and keeping the play alive with a pass to Marcello Violi.

Violi spun in a tackle and flicked the ball to Mattia Bellini, who somehow produced a one-handed offload to the supporting Minozzi to go over in the corner for the sensational score.

Jonny May – ENGLAND v Ireland

The second try of Jonny May’s first-half brace has already been described my many as one of the best tries Twickenham has ever seen – and deservedly so.

The move started with a loose lineout throw from the visitors, which Maro Itoje pounced on before Ollie Lawrence and Henry Slade linked up to find May deep in his own 22.

From there, magic ensued. May raced forward and stepped outside the onrushing Chris Farrell before turning the afterburners on and darting through a gaping hole in the Irish defence.

He stretched away from the chasing Bundee Aki, who lunged unsuccessfully at his heels, and chipped the ball forward deep into Ireland’s half before outpacing Jamison Gibson-Park.

May reached the ball and nudged it forward once more before gathering and dotting down, leaving a trail of green shirts in his wake for one of the best scores England HQ has ever seen.

Giorgi Kveseladze – GEORGIA v Ireland

Georgia finally opened their try-scoring account in the Autumn Nations Cup against Ireland and in doing so, the Lelos delivered one of the scores of the tournament in Dublin.

The hosts had made a strong start thanks to Billy Burns converting his own try and adding a further penalty but Georgia roared back thanks to Giorgi Kveseladze’s marvellous effort.

The centre collected Soso Matiashvili’s inside pass on the halfway line at speed before selling Jacob Stockdale a dummy, fending off Burns, weaving through would-be tacklers and crossing under the posts.

Mesulame Kunavula – FIJI v Georgia

Fiji may have arrived late to the party but they certainly made an impact on Finals Weekend.

The Pacific Islands ran in six tries to defeat Georgia 38-24 in a thrilling game at BT Murrayfield, with Nemani Nadolo grabbing a hat-trick on his return to international rugby.

At least two of his three tries could have been nominated but it’s Mesulame Kunavula’s fantastic effort on his debut that just pips his teammate, thanks in large part to the build-up.

The try was the epitome of Fijian rugby. Josua Tuisova received the ball wide on the right, handed off his first man before taking on three Georgia players and offloading to Kunavula, who ran a brilliant inside line off the shoulder to receive the ball and dot down.
